Cattery building and garden

The first phase of the cattery consists of 5 double units, 1 family unit, and 1 isolation unit; giving us capacity for up to 14 cats at any one time.

The double units sleep up to 2 cats and the family unit sleeps 4 cats comfortably. All units meet the minimum size requirements set down by the Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB). The cattery buildings are of timber construction, with each unit incorporating a raised penthouse-style sleeping area and a spacious enclosed run. For cold weather we have heating available in each unit, as well as heated beds for particularly cold nights, or for those cats needing extra heat (e.g. Sphynx).

All food is provided, and we feed only high-quality natural diets. A selection of both dry and wet cat foods are available which should satisfy even the fussiest eaters. If your cat is on a prescription diet or has other special requirements, we would ask that you provide any special foods and we will be happy to feed this according to your instructions.

Scratching boards and toys are provided to keep your cats amused, in addition to daily interaction and grooming sessions. The units have a nice outlook onto the garden, which provides plenty of visual stimulation for the cats in the way of plants and wildlife.

To encourage stress-free living for your cats, we use music therapy in the cattery. Relaxing music (often used by animal healers) is played throughout the cattery at low volumes during certain periods of the day.

All of the units are accessed via a safety corridor which reduces the risk of any cat escaping when people are entering or leaving the cattery. Each unit is fitted with sneeze barriers to prevent the spread of infection from one cat to another. In addition, according to FAB recommendations, we also have an isolation unit available so that on the rare occasion that a cat does become unwell, he/she can be separated from the other cats if necessary. The units are cleaned daily using a combination of veterinary recommended cleaners and, where possible, natural based cleaning products that are proven to have effective antibacterial/antiviral/anti-fungal properties.

We can avail of a 24 hour vet on call service when needed, and are located less than 5 minutes away from our local veterinary clinic.

The cattery has full planning permission and is covered by public liability insurance.

As of July 2008, our cattery is a member of the Irish Boarding Kennels and Cattery Association (IBKCA) and we have undertaken to abide by their code of ethics.
